Ragi Vadai

Ragi Vadai recipe is enriched with calcium,fibre and iron. It is a healthy recipe which helps the growing kids to attain good growth according to their age. Ragi also known as finger millet looks very tiny so it cannot be processed or polished. So we can consume Ragi in its original form with enormous health benefits. In South India, Ragi was a favourite millet liked by all age group in previous days. But nowadays we are not taking ragi in our daily diet. Let’s start adding millets in our regular diet to stay healthy and strong.
Today let’s see how to make homemade 10 Ragi Vadai quickly.

Ingredients

  • Oil – 200 ml
  • Ragi Flour – 250 gm
  • Onion – 1 cup (finely chopped)
  • Drumstick Leaves – 1 cup
  • Coriander Leaves – 1 cup
  • Curry Leaves – 1 cup
  • Green Chilli – 3
  • GGpaste – 1 tbsp
  • Roasted Gram – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 tbsp
  • Pepper powder – 1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida powder- 1 pinch
  • Water – Required Amount

Instructions

1Take a bowl and mix all the above items without adding water. Then Add the required amount of water to make it like a roti dough.

 

2After making the dough, check for taste and add salt or pepper if needed. Now apply oil in your hands and then make ragi balls.

 

3Take a small vessel and put wet cotton cloth over it. Keep the ragi ball on the wet cloth and press gently to make like vadai.

 

4Now flip the ragi vadai from the cloth to your hand slowly and keep it in a plate. Cover the ragi vadai with wet cotton cloth so that it will not dry and loose its crispiness.

 

5Take a frying pan and pour required amount of oil. Add ragi vadai to the hot oil and keep it in low flame because it will take 2 to 3 minutes to cook completely. Allow it to cook for a minute and then flip it slowly and allow it to cook completely. Once the Ragi Vadai is completely cooked take it out from the oil.

 

6Serve the Hot and Crispy Ragi Vadai with Coconut Chutney or Kaara Chutney or Tomato Chutney.
